1-Day Camps

Animal Jams

Before the first human-made instrument, animals around the world already performed their own music and humans learn from them! Birds, whales, wolves, and more communicate with each other in ways that we consider musical. How are human musicians inspired by the animal kingdom? Learn this and more at zoo camp!

Full day camp for children only. Campers will explore exhibits as well as do activities both in and out-doors. Caregiver must provide lunch and snack.

Lessons from Wildlife

We depend on animals for many reasons, as companions, ecosystem engineers, and even for clothing! From the farm to the wild rainforest, animals play important roles in our lives. Join us as we unravel the complex web that connects us to animals around the world.

Myths, Monsters, and Mammals

Werewolves, vampires, and fairies: what do these creatures have in common? They’re inspired by real life animals! Explore the monsters of myths through the lens of animals around us.

Young Advocates for Wildlife

Cast your vote at the zoo today! Campers will learn about the ins and outs of advocating for conservation action around the world and right here in NYC. Through up-close animal encounters, hands-on activities, and even mock voting, campers will learn how young people around the world are making a difference for wildlife.

Magnificent Magicians

Winter Tales

The temperature is falling, the wind is howling, and snow gathers on the ground. How do animals survive in these harsh conditions? From hibernation to migration, animals have incredible ways to make it through the bleak winter. Join us as we discover the myriad ways animals survive in winter!

Slumber 'til Spring

Snow days provide a wonderful time for a nap, but did you know that animals will sleep to survive? Cozy up at the Queens Zoo while we explore how animals hibernate through the winter.

Extreme Survivors

How do animals stay warm in the winter? They wear nice fur coats! Different animals will change their bodies to better suit a cold climate. From growing out a winter coat to building up blubber, animals have unique adaptations to fight the winter chill.

Winter Vacation

Do you ever want to spend your winter break on a tropical island? Birds, butterflies, and more will look for greener pastures to avoid the winter wonderland every year. Together we will investigate the methods of migration and analyze the reasons animals migrate!

Beast Friends Forever

Did you know that different species of animals will work together to survive? Some animals have symbiotic relationships with each other. Let's discover the unique relationships between different animal species and learn more about how humans interact with animals!

Lunar New Year: Snakes

Scales, forked tongues, and powerful muscles: snakes are unique and wonderfully suited for survival! Celebrate the year of the snake as we explore the sensational serpent scene. Through crafts, exhibit visits, and up-close animal encounters, we’ll learn more about this misunderstood and marvelous animal.

Animal Performances

From the elaborate dance of a peaco*ck spider to the stunning impersonations of a lyrebird, animals around the world put on Broadway winning performances as part of their natural behaviors! Through animal demonstrations, games, and activities campers will discover the variety of behaviors that help animals survive in the wild.

5-Day Camps

Wild Survivors

During this weeklong exploration, we'll examine how animals live their everyday lives. As humans, we get our food from the grocery store, we wear coats when we get cold, and we live in our homes. How do animals help us do these things? How do animals meet all their needs for survival? Find out through exciting activities with our WCS Educators! Meet some of our animals up close and learn about how they use their adaptations for survival.

Full day camp for children only. Campers will explore exhibits as well as do activities both in and out-doors. Caregiver must provide lunch and snack.

Backyard Explorers

Calling all Neighborhood Naturalists! Join us as we embark on a fun and informative journey exploring the nature that we can find in our own backyards! Join us in this five-day camp as we learn about the natural world that is right beneath our feet by getting hands-on experiences with the wildlife that we see every day!

Five-day camp during February Recess. Each day campers will explore a different animal group or habitat. Caregivers must provide lunch and snacks.
